Have I missed something??

Has there been another election since Mrs Mays impoverished result last year?? If so when did it happen and why didn’t I as a voting member of the public know??

Have we had another referendum on BREXIT?? Again I have to ask when did this happen and why was I not given a vote??

Is Mr Barnier negotiating BREXIT with the government or every other person who wants a say, because if so why have I not been invited?? Believe me I would have a few things to say particularly about his arrogance which for any BREXITEERS will do nothing to warm people towards Europe, instead it is more likely to rightly/ wrongly confirm their beliefs.

When did Mr Barnier start to say what is best for our country, isn’t this the very reason many people voted to leave because they felt Europe was interfering in UK policies/ laws etc?? Why are we continuing to give this man the upperhand in any negotiations?? By doing so are we not feeding the belief that Europe is running this country?? And I see Mr Macron is flexing his oral muscles again demanding that we increase the number of refugees we take from Calais. I have to ask why are these people deliberately trying to alienate the British people because their behaviour is hardly going to change the minds of BREXITEERS or encourage others to want to stay. In addition Mr Macron needs to check up the meaning of child and refugee, he may find he needs to be using term such as young adult and economic migrants.

If we are ‘all in this together then why do I feel that I am in a country being usurped by the very people who claim to have out best interests at heart?

Surely whatever your position, it is now time for everyone to stick together and get the best deal for the UK instead of alienating potential foreign interest and trying to undermine current BREXIT negotiations.

Everyone is rattling on about Donald Trump, frankly I am fed up of hearing about the guy, he is a transient person, by the time Brexit is completed (given current time scales) the USA will be voting for a new president. Let’s be honest he is NOT our president, he was the Americans choice – get over it, and with regards to his visit to this country I can only say we have entertained worse in our time and we need to look beyond the person to the purpose. However you have to give Mr Trump some credit, if nothing else he has certainly increased the American people’s interest in politics. Also given their choices what were they to do? Continue to hand power to the corrupt elite of USA because the power of the USA is held by a minority group of families not the people – even the Obama’s were closely linked to the Kennedy’s, so hopefully if nothing else we will see new families coming to the White house in the future and today’s young American might think there is a chance they could be president, but hey that’s a different issue.

I feel Gina Miller made an excellent point on question time last week when she suggested  our politicians did not seem to know much about how to negotiating deals?? You cannot afford to disclose all your cards in the opening gambit, god help this bunch if they ever get into a game of Poker!

Has London become an independent state with its own prime minister in the form of Mr Khan? – I thought he was only the Mayor for the city of London, who is he to try to determine who visits our country? He needs to be aware the UK exists beyond the city of London. The lack of awareness that the UK is not all about London is a serious issue for those who live outside the hallowed area. It is NOT for Londoners to decide who visits our country a point Mr Khan would do well to take note of if he is aiming to work for the UK as a whole.

Let’s be honest WE the BRITISH people from the ENTIRE UK bailed out the banks and our thanks – to expect us to help bail them out with Corillion and to threaten to leave the UK if BREXIT goes through. Well thanks for that guys, you really make me feel appreciated as I continue to try to live on what was probably about one twentieth of your annual bonus!! You’ve got a bloody nerve!!

What I really want to know is what is the approach each party is taking, I apologise if that makes me seem completely thick but my understanding is as follows

Conservatives claim to be going for Brexit whatever the outcome – then we see these turkeys going off to have backroom chats with Mr Barnier, so what’s really going on there?? Is this called ‘you took my job away so now I’m not happy with you’? Well looking at the Corillion situation it looks as though someone’s job needs to be looked at – oh but I’m forgetting we have done that by looking at the lowest common denominator – the brickie, plasterer, cleaner etc

Labour – well I believe they intend to carry through with some form of BREXIT but seem incapable/ unable/ unwilling to explain what form their BREXIT would have, although be sure it will include continued immigration and membership of the single market – so is it BREXIT or not?? Time to put your cards on the table chaps, or are you more interested in making the UK a socialist state and if so I would like to know of an example where this has been a good thing for THE PEOPLE, I agree that in common with every other form of politics the leaders always do well out of it, but what about us pawns on the board of life, we are usually worse off under a socialist strategy so what will make it different this time??? You are already trying to make sure Mr Corbyn can only be replaced by a socialist – now that hardly bodes well does it??

To be fair to the Lib Dems they have at least said categorically that they do not want to leave Europe and will have another referendum – at least they have pinned their colours to the mast rightly or wrongly, depends on your point of view.

Plaid Cymru – well they want another referendum and want to stay in Europe – an interesting stance since the majority of Wales said leave. So who are they actually representing.

SNP – want to stay within Europe – again interesting since when they were campaigning for independence they were quite happy to give up membership to get independence, then try to get separate membership but with Europe telling them no chance, that did not deter their campaign, so what’s changed there? What is their real agenda?

The greens have had some strange approaches which shouldn’t surprise us after their former leader announced all white women should only be allowed to have sex with men of colour as that would eventually get rid of racism – a strange view given that racism is not all about skin colour. So what do they really want?

DUP – they claim to be supporting the BREXIT agenda through their paid for alliance to the conservatives, but are they really?? Or is there too much history there for that to be a productive alliance, they certainly like to be seen to be making the conservatives squirm before they give their support – not a helpful approach, so what do they really want??

Sinn Fein – Now what is their agenda for Southern Ireland?? Neither them or DUP should be using this crucial negotiation to determine what happens to the UK as an excuse to further their own Nth/ Sth Irish agenda, and perhaps the Southern Irish government needs to think back a few years and ask themselves who financially bailed them out when they were in trouble with the Euro?? It certainly wasn’t Europe. So again we don’t really know what their agenda is.

Now call me simple minded I really don’t care, but I do care about the future of this country and take this opportunity to remind all mp’s you are being paid to represent the people of this great country not to grind your own axes, looking at the summaries above, god forbid,  you really do not give out much hope for any of us

So  Have I missed another vote on the future of this county and if so why and when was it??

Catching the Genie!

Another fascinating week of reading the wildly different views of those who feel the need to express them in a public arena, and yes that I suppose includes me. The thing that is most striking is the open venomous undertones to the comments made and it got me asking myself ‘is this level of intolerance and open dislike new or are we just seeing the conversations that previously took place in private becoming more public’. Let’s be honest all this politically correct stuff has been for public consumption only, people have always expressed their more honest views and opinions in the company of like minded people and usually in the privacy of their own homes. However the advent of the internet has taken the lid off this particular Pandora’s box, the genie is out and no-one quite knows how to catch it again. So the big question is how do we deal with this situation? There are many options including complete censorship of all social media platforms and I would be happy to argue that there is a case for considering that course of action. Then again I would equally argue that people have a right to freedom of speech, so there lies the conundrum- Freedom of speech vs Politically correct content of speech!

I guess the basis of all of this lies in deciding WHO has the overall right to deem what is right or wrong. This week sees Donald Trump ban some media outlets from his white house press statements. Now do we decide that he is right to do this and that the banned media sources are not trustworthy because they challenge his statements or put forward ‘alternative facts’. Or do we take the view that the others will report what he wants them to report rather than challenge it in order to ‘curry’ favour with him so they can be at these meetings.. Does this mean that they are willing to leave their reputation in question by just reporting what they are told whether it is right or wrong. So can we trust any of the media outlets – highly doubtful.

We could of course take the Chinese or North Korean approach to controlling the internet by limiting what people can access and by the state deciding what information people get access to. Do we think that this level of control is right and does it support our right to freedom of speech? We could use the internet to change the political landscape and usurp governments of other countries if we chose to – a skill we are advised that the Russians have, but do we know for sure? And again we see politicians using the media for their own satisfaction and gain. Essentially it looks like none of these approaches are really working so does it  get down to a much more fundamental issue of the need to just grow a thicker skin. No, I would argue that it should really be more about accepting responsibility for what we say in the same way we have to accept responsibility for what we do. We should express our ideas, we should question what we read in the media and what our politicians say and perhaps we should start by asking what these parties are trying to gain by taking the stance they take. Should we be able to speak harshly or cruelly to people, is there any truth in the old adage ‘ cruel to be kind’.?

Tell someone a certain style of clothing doesn’t suit them or they are overweight/ fat and you are ‘shaming them’. Or are you? Could it be you are perhaps looking at their best interests, it isn’t what is said it is the intention behind it and how it is said. In other words ‘the context’ Many of the media providers these days remove the context around incidents and events.

This week we have also seen the changing fortunes of Milo Yiannopoulos – a self declared provocateur, nothing wrong with being a provocateur; sometimes we need a prod to make us sit up and take notice of what is going on, doesn’t mean you have to agree or disagree with the provocative point. Much though I feel sorry that Mr Yiannopoulos should find himself in this position, clearly there have been those who have relished this change in his fortunes as they clamour like maggots on a dead carcass to claim they had a part to play in his supposed demise – take care people, somewhere, someone will be out there just awaiting their chance to give you the same treatment !’ He who casts a stone etc’ or if you prefer ‘ are you living in a glass house’?  If we had issue with what Mr Yiannopoulos allegedly implied 4 years ago then we should have dealt with it at the time or is this a case of ‘it’s OK to make these statements if you are not in a position of influence, but not when you are’ Double standards people, double standards!! It is also interesting that once again the common feature of ‘ not identifying sources’ arises. A person should always be able to identify a source or we should rightly question the authenticity of the information.

We have this army of loud mouthed, opinionated people who would argue that they are the voice of reason, they are the people who have the interests of everyone else at heart – well I’m sorry but you certainly don’t have my interests at heart and to be honest I am glad about that. Most of you do not come across as particularly nice people and seem to only really have your own interests at heart. Or probably more to the point, you are looking at how outrageous you need to be to increase your followers so you can rake in the money – the usual root of all evils!!  If that means ‘ being creative/ economic with the truth’ then so be it. A typical example of this is where we have transgender people telling us what females want – how can they? Their experience of being a female is completely different to that of someone who is non transgender female. Really ladies perhaps the question should be why women are letting another sexuality decide what they want AGAIN!

We are making the world a very confusing place for our children and really I fear for them, the social boundaries which have always been challenged are falling and with them goes the safety of civilisation. Why did we have Brexit, Trump, Dictators , War mongers, the far Right/ the far Left- I don’t believe we have far to look. Look at the internet and the disdain with which people treat others and perhaps you will be nearer to finding the answer. With so many self serving individuals at large what more could you expect.

But take care people, history can teach us what happened the last time people became this vitriolic in nature.

Catching the Genie!

Get a Grip!

So it’s been a while! And boy have we seen some changes!

Why???? Why have people voted in the way they have and what is the message they are sending out?

Well there’s a question we do need to ask ourselves and we need to get over ourselves! Democracy is not about getting your own way! Whether you got what you wanted or not the majority vote is the majority vote, that’s the system we signed up to years ago and to be honest it has served us well so far, so I’m not sure why people are behaving in the way they are both in the UK about Brexit and in the USA about the presidential elections.

We seem to have a generation of people who miscall everyone who does not support their corner. Did I get what I wanted in these voting situations – well it doesn’t really matter as I have to live with the decisions of others so I will get on with it and make the most of it.

But one thing I am sick to death of seeing is the rich and famous coming out to tell us what to vote – you’ve got money, you don’t live the same life as the rest of us and sadly most of you don’t seem to remember what it was like to work hard every day and STILL struggle to pay the bills etc. Having money and fame does not mean you have a better brain than the rest of us and it doesn’t give you the right to try to influence our decisions, who do you think you are??? For goodness sake many of you got where you are not because you worked hard or because you have a great brain but because you were prepared to take your clothes off or behave badly on some reality show, what message are you sending to young people!?

So many wealthy people really feel they have the right to tell the rest of us about the ways of the world, what evidence is there that your interpretation of the situation is any better informed than mine! That is just sheer arrogance and my goodness there is a lot of it about. Everyone has their own opinion based on their own experiences and the information they get which sadly it has to be said is rarely if ever honest.

And there is one of the big problems, who do we believe? We can’t trust the press, the news, the internet, the politicians or those who are public figures so we can only try to make the best interpretation of the fodder we are endlessly fed.

Who should take a big amount of the blame for this social division? – the press, the politicians, the news reporters and the internet?

WHY? –  You only print information in the way you think it will sensationalize the subject and sell papers.

The biased coverage of the Brexit referendum and the presidency elections was so blatant as to be disgusting, you should be ashamed of yourselves, your job should be investigative and factual, I’m not interested in your opinions and interpretations, just give me the facts and let me make my own interpretations because guess what, like you I had an education and probably had a better one than some of you, so have the good grace to stop treating me like a total ‘Numptee’!

I used to think that I would get  more accurate information if I listened to the BBC – but hey guess what chaps it’s become the job centre for every MP who is no longer in the cabinet or shadow cabinet. So much for the independence of the press and so much for these overworked MP’S who claim they don’t get enough pay but in reality they have several roles in companies where they get paid. So when we look at the salaries of the average MP we need to take into account these guys are working part time at the job because if they were full time they couldn’t fulfil their other jobs in other companies. So either they are claiming salaries from them for doing nothing or they are lying to us about the hours they put into their MP jobs and they don’t seem to have a problem finding the time to be on a TV show.

Going back to democracy, I note it is slowly being eroded by the very people we elect to protect it, there is no way we should be able to know the demographics of the voters UNLESS our votes are no longer anonymous!

So who is collecting that information and why are we allowing it?

The next question should be who is drip feeding it to the press and using it in a way that starts to divide society?

With Brexit the 50+ age group were blamed for the results, in the USA it seems to be the white working class men – How the hell you know this information if the vote is anonymous and why is it being allowed to be used in such a divisive way.

And so we get to the next worrying point, the way politicians and the press turn people against each other.

YOU REALLY WANT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA AND TAKE ON BOARD WHAT THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOUR RESULTS IN!

Is that what you want? Because believe me you are making a fantastic contribution towards it.

And to the wealthy businessmen, sorry but your decision to try to protect the public from any possible harm Mr Trump might cause is a bit rich when you have all played a massive role in creating this entire problem. This world has more millionaires than ever but do we see any thought for others – Not a lot!

What do you mean I hear the cry – ‘I’ve given loads of money to this charity or that charity, I’m doing this in Africa/ India etc?’

and I applaud your generosity, but let’s be honest it also gets you a massive tax break, so in reality the tax you could have paid into the countries welfare system you have chosen to give to others in another country. Now I don’t have a problem with the money helping anyone who needs it, but I do have a problem when it also means that people in your own country lose out, not least because you have avoided paying taxes, but because many of you who are in business don’t even pay people a decent salary a lot of the time for the work they do for you and indeed some big companies are subsidised by the poor tax payers. So not only are you avoiding paying the correct amount of tax, the tax system is paying your employees whilst you get ever richer!!

And you are going to protect us???? LOL

So give your money to whoever you want to give it to but don’t claim it as a tax exemption. Perhaps if you pay decent wages to people there won’t be so much need for so much charity – just a thought. And you can still feel good about yourself

Where are the people like those who built communities such as Bourneville or Port Sunlight in the UK? They must be turning in their graves; I knew one of those people and can say it would be difficult to find a more honest and caring considerate person. What have we got now- yes even from some of the descendants of those fantastic people, we have a generation of self -serving people who would rather sell the houses/ flats people live in to millionaires so they can rent then out for exorbitant rents. Because let’s be honest you can never have enough money!

Companies moan about attracting workers to places because house prices are too high – why not take a leaf out of the history books and buy some properties that you rent to your employees at an affordable rent as part of the terms of their contract, not at some rent that leaves them struggling for any decent standard of living. It’s a win, win situation!!

Another thing – ask yourself when your company last bought someone a retirement gift for long service and loyalty to your company – and I mean someone NOT in the board room??

Can’t remember – no I’m sure you can’t because now you have no loyalty to employees, you work them into the ground then ditch them and you wonder why people are pissed off; look at BHS, look at the bankers situation who was it who picked up the tab on each occasion? Joe Average – Mr average employee.

When did you last understand what a contract is? It means someone sold you some of their time for an agreed fee, it does not mean you then have a right to dip into the hours you did not pay for and wave the threat of redundancy every time the person makes an objection, let’s be honest there are penalties if the employee does not stick to their agreed hours. Many of you businessmen and bankers and other self – serving individuals have played a huge part in the current dissatisfaction of Mr Joe average and all the other Mr/ Ms averages. I don’t accept the argument that without your money there would be no work, because equally without the hard work of your employees you wouldn’t have your money!

Don’t suddenly set yourselves up as the protectors of the public now, start looking at how you change your approach to stop western society disintegrating into the chaos currently seen in the Middle East.

And whilst I have a groan -for Goodness sake let’s get feminism back to the realms of reality. Women are becoming their own worst enemy. The world is not about you either, it is a shared world, you seem to have lost the plot, the more I hear the more I worry. No, feminism is NOT and never should have been about female domination, we are supposed to be working towards equality, so why is it that suddenly the word Misogyny gets screamed every time a male disagrees with you, get a grip, you want to be in the real world then stop throwing your dummy out every time you don’t get your own way. The world is not all about feelings. Ask yourself why many businesswomen still surround themselves with male employees? – Perhaps they don’t whinge as much. I’m fed up of the whinging of female politicians and feminists, get on with the job and stop adding your divisive tarnish to the mix. You are an embarrassment to the female population and you’re current stance is not representative of most women. If you want to say you represent women get off your moaning bitching bums and ask women what they want. For goodness sake “safe spaces” Grow up!!

Now more than ever we need to remember we have a responsibility to humanity as a whole and to the preservation of our planet. So whatever your culture, religion, race, politics, sexuality, age, height, weight, eye colour or whatever difference you might have

GET A BLOODY GRIP!

Whew I feel better for that!!

Get a Grip!
