Freedom of speech and fair play!

There are days when I seriously wonder what the world is coming to and it has to be said today of one of those days!

Forget what’s going on in USA, forget what’s happening in places such as Afghanistan/ Iraq/ Syria because  in the UK there  are much bigger concerns – no I’m not talking about Brexit, I mean that could take me the rest of my life as it has raised huge concerns about whether or not today’s young people actually understand how democracy works! But more worrying is this ‘mob rule gagging’ of people that now takes place!

What the hell happened to freedom of speech – which might I remind people does come with responsibilities -a scary word for many of our mob rule mentality bunch!

The whole idea of freedom of speech is that it opens issues up for discussion, if you start prohibiting freedom of speech you start to erode the very fabric of our society, for heavens sake we have just had remembrance day, freedom of speech was one of the key things all those young people gave there lives for! If we continue to have the situation where those who make the biggest threats of civil disruption/ those who cry the loudest finally control what everyone else can publicly discuss/debate/ listen to we are losing our freedom of speech and our democracy. Who are these people who don’t seem to have anything better to do than to jump up and down, making demands and threatening civil disruption if their demands are not met.

Tantrums are usually for 2 year old children and quite frankly that is how these individuals are portraying themselves – grow up, the real world is not about getting everything you want you spoiled  brats, the real world needs people to show everyone respect, dignity and tolerance – damn it the law demands that!!

So far we have people trying to influence court cases when they don’t even know the facts, we have this same mob mentality deciding who can give a presentation when they don’t even know what the person might say. This mentality has been responsible for driving people unfairly out of their jobs, look at the ridiculous response to the woman who has challenged the article 50 issue, over 50% of the population will not be happy with her but it does not give them the right to hound her, she has a right to challenge something she does not agree with; if the shoe were on the other foot that’s exactly what the Brexit supporters would do and rightly so.

Even more scary is that a lot of this mentality is from women – YOU ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT! No things are not ideal for women but then they are not ideal for anyone, I cannot believe that today’s educated young women have to resort to ‘safe rooms’ full of kids comfort toys when the stresses of life are hard, or someone says something they disagree with or do not like – you are not children, grow up – life has good and bad times it can be harsh and it can be cosy but for goodness sake get out and live it instead of trying to wrap yourselves in cotton wool.

So what kick started today’s rant – the need for a school to cancel a visit and talk  from a former student namely Mr Milo Yiannopoulus; not because they objected to what he might say as both teachers and students were clearly VERY open minded and up for the discussion, no it was because a group of sanctimonious, narrow minded bigots decided they would pose a threat to the welfare of the students by having demonstrations outside the school. What a selfish, self serving undeserving bunch you are! To think members of your families will have fought to preserve the right for people to express their views, I wonder what they would make of your behaviour. You want respect and fair play, let me tell you – the first one you have to earn and you have a long way to go, as to the second one – who the hell told you life was fair, if it was we in the west would not have huge weight problems whilst those in developing countries are starving!

As to Mr Yiannopoulus – I am not a follower of his particular material but I defend his right to have his say!
