Here we go again – learning to live with democracy

Can’t believe the year is only into day 2 and already the anti- Brexiteers ( in the form of Elouise Todd) are rattling their sabres and gnashing their teeth. I thought they would have learned what a democracy is by now, but I should have known better after all these are the same people who grew up being told there were no losers at sports day and living in the age of immediate gratification. And before you all start assuming which side of the argument my loyalties are with that is entirely irrelevant this is about the need to preserve our democracy, a democracy that has served this country well over the years. You only have to look at what is happening in countries where there is no democracy to see where we could end up if we continue this nonsense.

We don’t have much to choose from really, we have the rich conservatives who invariably have to save us from the wild extravagances of the labour party but then use them as the excuse to continue to squeeze the population dry – they should look around them and see the common factor in worlds areas of insurgence is the evidence of huge disparity between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’, there is only so much people will put up with. There needs to be a rebirth of philanthropy among our wealthy citizens instead of the current ‘ I’m alright Jack attitude’.

As an alternative we have the so called labour party who have got us into so much debt in the first place – yes Tony Blair I am talking about you and your mob, you people who like to pretend you are not the wealthy elite whilst your wife and sons sweep the country buying up all the cheaper properties so that you can do them up and ask extortionate rents – because you fear being poor!!   The same labour party now headed up by a socialist leader pretending he is the man of the people, yet he is also one of the elite wealthy – he doesn’t mention that much. And his promises of a better future all based on vague innuendo and no substance. But all credit to him he is a great campaigner especially as he pretends he is going to give the young free university education. This is the same man who is promoting a political ideology which has been shown over time to produce even more elite wealthy individuals in government who look after themselves at the expense of the rest of us; we can already see the embers of that fire glowing as he talks about ensuring he can only be replaced by another socialist leader. I defy anyone to name me a socialist country where there is not an elite wealthy political class and where there is still a democracy.

Then there are all the other parties and essentially most are so ideologically based they will only ever appeal to the few and never serve the many. The reality is that if everyone looks at the interests if the country instead of their own ideals this mix of ideologies should enable us to have a great Brexit and future.

BUT having said all of that being a democracy means we still get to vote and whether a party wins by 1 or 600 votes we have to learn to live with it, believe me I have faced many disappointments in my time and so it is with Brexit. The Brexiteers won and the remainers lost, and that is the reality of life so trying to overturn the vote is really about trying to over rule the democratic process; and to make comments such as the Brexiteers not understanding what they were voting for is pure arrogance, all because they did not vote remain it does not mean they don’t know what they were doing, time may show that the remainers had it all wrong or that everyone was wrong however that doesn’t matter now, what does matter is that the time has come when we must get behind the Prime minister and go with the democratic vote so we can make the best of the situation to ensure that there can be a very good outcome.

This is not a time to be so divided as it gives the EU the upper hand, a good business negotiator would never reveal his/her hand until they have to and so in a democratic way we need to pursue the interests of OUR country – don’t let us be deceived by the EU who have a long term plan of their own which may challenge the very basis of our democracy, the more I hear of Europe’s plans for their single European future the more I fear the Brexiteers may be right. We could be damned if we stay and equally damned if we don’t. The fact that the government has a mix of Brexiteers and remainers should ensure a fairly balanced approach to the exit from Europe. This negotiation needs us all to work together – you know the old adage regularly tossed around the workplace about ‘TEAM WORK’!

So Elouise Todd whilst leaving the EU might not be what YOU wanted, you are one of a minority group, you will do better to try to positively influence the final deal rather than attempting to reverse the process, because for good or bad we need to keep our democracy. At the moment a key question to be asked is whether we want the government or the media to decide this country’s future and I for one would prefer to throw my hat in with the government.

It’s time to make this a great Brexit deal by not allowing the EU or the media to call the shots, that would not be democratic.

Here we go again – learning to live with democracy

Save us from Tony Blair Again!!

I cannot believe the arrogance of some people! Tony Blair once again sees himself as the saviour of the people – or does he?

This ‘Lancelot’ is really a wolf in sheep’s clothing. This man has the audacity to question the honesty of the politicians in the Brexit referendum – this from the man who lied and got us into a war in the middle east, the man who created a much more volatile world for us to live in, the man who having created the middle east situation managed to get the job of ‘peace envoy’ – unbelievable! But it kept him on the public payroll and we the ‘ordinary people’ continued to finance his lavish lifestyle and family security. The man who uses his former position to demand £330,000 for a 20 minute speech!

All of this whilst his self-serving greedy wife decided to make money out of writing a book about living in NO 10 and what went on there – outrageous that this should even be allowed. In reality NO spouses of any prime ministers should be allowed to undertake such activity, we didn’t vote for her and she abused her position as the wife of the prime minister in so many different ways but usually for personal financial gain – let me think now, how much is it that she charges for an after dinner speech? Wasn’t it around £25,000 and £10 for getting a Tony Blair autograph?

And what about the wonderful Tony, the man of the people who constantly refers to us as ‘ordinary people’ and treats us in the old mushroom management style of being kept in the dark and fed a load of bullshit! The man who has the financial morals of an alley cat who having managed to secure the peace envoy position abused it by using it for his own personal business deals until foreign leaders said it was becoming embarrassing. So Tony loses the job and all of a sudden he decides he’s going to get back into British politics!!

Now call me a cynic if you like but isn’t this really about Tony wanting to stay on the public payroll and politician gravy train and what better vehicle to use for his personal gain this time than the Brexit referendum. This decision to whip up an anti Brexit campaign has nothing to do with what is best for the country or democracy this is to do with Tony Blair continuing to line his own pockets, He spent year lying to us and moving the country into debt, did he accept any of the blame oh no ‘TEFLON TONY’ strikes again.

And let’s be clear his wife is doing the wifely thing and financially supporting her family – not by doing a straight forward 9-5 job, oh no, instead she and eldest son have been sweeping the length and breadth of Britain buying up all of those run down houses that first time buyers might buy and ‘do up’. You know the houses they might be able to afford and that might get them on the housing ladder. Now that’s OK you might think especially when it’s being done by such a trustworthy individual, who as a top lawyer claimed  she didn’t  understand the housing market when she bought her son’s first flat and the deal was – shall we say – questionable as to whether or not it was even legal, but like her husband she was innocent, a victim of circumstances.

Now we could take the view that this very self-serving couple who, lets remind ourselves, have the interests of ordinary people at heart, are buying up these properties to be able to help to house the injured servicemen or their bereaved families in properties at very cheap rents so they can support them as they try to recover from their experiences. And god knows they at least owe them that after the lies that took them into the battlefield arena. Such an altruistic action would be laudable, but no such luck, once again the Blair family are only interested in lining their own pockets.

Of course this should not surprise any of us, it is typical of them and perhaps if there is a god he will see justice is given in the end. But let’s get back to the here and now. Tony Blair starting up a pro Europe campaign, I’m sorry for any one who seriously believes he has their interests or those of the country truly at heart. This man is only out for his own gains and to start this campaign must bring into question  how much he believes in democracy. We had a referendum, the decision was made and whilst many of us would have wished for a different outcome we must stand strong against this new approach to democracy which so many of our politicians seem to be supporting where you keep voting and voting until you get what you want.

So before you go voting for another referendum you need to ask yourself do you want to live in a democracy or not?

We fought world wars to keep our democracy, and a democratic vote means you will not always get what you want, You have to learn to live with it, god knows I had to live with  the Blair’s in no 10 for years because of a democratic decision

Is Tony Blair any more trustworthy now than when he was in government – well I leave you to make up your own minds but whilst you take the time to do that just look at the historic behaviour of this man, this is a man who is so arrogant and vain that he thinks we are all waiting for him to rescue us. For god sake he took us to where we are on immigration, austerity, war – and to this day he still takes no responsibility for his actions.

Man of the people – I bloody well don’t thinks so, he couldn’t give a toss about us or the country, this is Teflon Tony Blair – in search of another money-making scheme for his own benefit. And Tony, can I just say as one of the ‘ordinary people’ the only thing that makes you extraordinary is that you are so arrogant, unbelievably hard faced, deceitful and greedy. Just remember the term ‘War Crimes’ – you escaped that one by the skin of your teeth, but the rest of us remember your part in it all!

It’s time we all grew up, behaved liked intelligent adults and moved on.

Democracy is democracy and long may it last!!

Save us from Tony Blair Again!!
